چکیده

One of the primary goals in endodontics is efficient cleaning and shaping root canal while maintaining its original configuration. Numerous studies highlight advantage using nickel-titanium instruments most important their high flexibility ability to penetrate curved canals. The aim this study was analyze ultrastructure surface endodontic files before after use. Eighty-four were included study. used one, three six times for preparation on extracted upper premolars. analysis performed based number uses size instruments. Changes flat surfaces grooves instruments, defects cutting edges fractures evaluated. analyzed a scanning electron microscope (SEM). SEM showed irregularities new Surface damage present first After uses, more evident all sizes. edges, significant observed. Irregularities working parts are already noticed originate from production process. signs appear In order prevent errors clinical work during preparation, it recommended that should be limited.

Defects in nickel-titanium instruments after clinical use. Part 5: single use from endodontic specialty practices.

INTRODUCTION Single use of endodontic nickel-titanium (NiTi) instruments has been recommended to reduce instrument fatigue and the possibility of cross-contamination. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the defects of three NiTi rotary systems (ProFile series 29 [Dentsply Tulsa Dental Products, Tulsa, OK], ProFile [Dentsply Tulsa Dental Products], and ProTaper [Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaig...

Effect of cryogenic treatment on nickel-titanium endodontic instruments.

AIM To investigate the effects of cryogenic treatment on nickel-titanium endodontic instruments. The null hypothesis was that cryogenic treatment would result in no changes in composition, microhardness or cutting efficiency of nickel-titanium instruments. METHODOLOGY Microhardness was measured on 30 nickel-titanium K-files (ISO size 25) using a Vicker's indenter. Elemental composition was me...

Cyclic fatigue testing of nickel-titanium endodontic instruments.

Cyclic fatigue of nickel-titanium, engine-driven instruments was studied by determining the effect of canal curvature and operating speed on the breakage of Lightspeed instruments. A new method of canal curvature evaluation that addressed both angle and abruptness of curvature was introduced. Canal curvature was simulated by constructing six curved stainless-steel guide tubes with angles of cur...

Preference of undergraduate students after first experience on nickel-titanium endodontic instruments

OBJECTIVES This study aimed to compare two nickel-titanium systems (rotary vs. reciprocating) for their acceptance by undergraduate students who experienced nickel-titanium (NiTi) instruments for the first time. MATERIALS AND METHODS Eighty-one sophomore dental students were first taught on manual root canal preparation with stainless-steel files. After that, they were instructed on the use o...
